Junior Site Reliability Engineer Job Description:
The Junior Site Reliability Engineer is in charge of aiding with the design, construction, and maintenance of the infrastructure and deployment technologies that support their live environments. This is a hands-on, collaborative job in which you will work directly with development teams and senior SREs to ensure that their systems are dependable, scalable, and well-instrumented. Junior SREs are required to learn and use best practices for developing strong, automated solutions, as well as to guarantee that their work can be replicated and understood by others. Every contribution should be accompanied by documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer within the team and throughout engineering.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Infrastructure Design & Maintenance
- Help to develop and maintain infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) technologies (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Assist with the provisioning and lifecycle management of production, staging, and other important environments.
- Contribute to the implementation of shared infrastructure components (such as logging, metrics, service mesh, and load balancing).
- Contribute to increasing infrastructure scalability, availability, and performance under the supervision of experienced engineers.
- Collaborate with developers to offer infrastructure support for their deployment requirements.
Deployment Systems & CI/CD
- Support and expand CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Argo CD) to increase deployment reliability and automation.
- Contribute to the promotion of consistency and best practices in deployment, rollback, and observability across environments.
- Work with developers to improve testing and code delivery to production.
- Help to reduce manual processes in the deployment and operations workflows.
Reliability, Observability & Tooling
- Assist with the setup and management of our monitoring, alerting, and logging system (Kube-Prometheus-Grafana stack).
- Help track SLOs/SLIs for key services in collaboration with service owners.
- Learn how to identify and remove single points of failure, performance bottlenecks, and causes of instability.
- Participate in reliability assessments and post-incident analyses.
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Ensure that all systems and procedures you work on are supported by detailed, up-to-date documentation.
- Contribute to common knowledge bases, runbooks, and developer-focused onboarding materials.
- Participate in internal training and pairs to learn from your coworkers.
Collaboration & Culture
- Collaborate with the SRE Lead and other team members to complete work that is consistent with team goals.
- Engage productively with other engineering teams.
- Participate in on-call rotations while receiving significant assistance from senior members.
- Encourage a culture of blameless learning, openness, and continual development.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience: 1-2 years in a DevOps, SRE, or similar function.
- Cloud: Basic grasp of cloud computing fundamentals, including some hands-on experience with AWS.
- Containers and Orchestration: Experience with Docker and a basic knowledge of Kubernetes principles. Experience with AWS ECS is an advantage.
- CI/CD: Experience with CI/CD principles and technologies such as GitHub Actions. Experience with Argo CD is an advantage.
- IaC: Prior experience or exposure to Infrastructure as Code technologies such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Scripting: Proficiency in at least one scripting language (such as Bash or Python).
- Observability: Basic knowledge of monitoring and logging. Exposure to Prometheus and Grafana is beneficial.
- Collaboration requires excellent communication skills as well as a drive to learn and work as part of a team.
